An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join the leadership team within a residential care home. This is a full-time managerial position supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high-quality care, strong governance and a positive working culture. We are seeking a confident and compassionate care professional with previous senior-level experience within a care setting. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of CQC regulations and adult social care standards, alongside excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities of the Deputy Manager
- Support the Registered Manager in all aspects of operational management and regulatory compliance.
- Cover the Registered Manager when they are on annual leave or not in the office.
- Provide leadership, supervision and guidance to care staff.
- Complete care planning, audits, assessments and quality monitoring.
- Ensure safe, effective and person-centred care delivery.
- Lead by example during floor shifts, promoting best practice and supporting staff.
- Contribute to staff training, development and performance management.
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold CQC standards.
- Act as a point of contact for families, professionals and external agencies.
- Support recruitment and HR processes.
- Assist with safeguarding, incident management and risk assessments.
- Administer medication within a busy care home environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a senior care role, such as Senior Carer, Team Leader, Deputy Manager or similar.
- Minimum of 3 years' senior care experience.
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations and adult social care standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and cover additional shifts when required for the needs of the home.
- Compassionate, professional and committed to high-quality care.
- Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification as a minimum; Level 4 or 5 preferred, or willingness to work towards it.
- Experience in auditing within a care home setting.
- Experience with CQC compliance at managerial level.
- Extensive experience administering medication in a busy care home environment.
