The Role We’re looking for a Field Service Engineer (IP / Networking) to join our team in Whiteley, Hampshire. This is a customer-facing, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with complex technical systems and wants to be involved across the full lifecycle from pre-sales support and demonstrations through to delivery and ongoing customer support. You’ll split your time between working on-site with customers and supporting activities in the office, including system setup, troubleshooting, and technical support. Travel is a key part of the role, typically up to two weeks per month across the UK, Europe, and occasionally further afield.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Providing pre- and post-sales technical support to customers and internal teams
  • Supporting system design and configuration across IP networking, RF, and video technologies
  • Delivering product demonstrations, installations, and customer training
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues remotely and on-site
  • Configuring and supporting IP-based systems (e.g. VLANs, multicast/unicast, RTSP)
  • Supporting integration of wireless and communication systems into wider networks
  • Producing technical documentation and contributing to continuous product improvement
  • Working closely with Sales, Engineering, and Product teams to deliver tailored solutions

What We’re Looking For:

Essential

  • Experience working with IP networking and network-based systems
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g. VLANs, routing, multicast/unicast)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a structured approach to troubleshooting
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences
  • Customer-facing mindset with strong interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel regularly (UK, Europe, and occasionally worldwide)

Desirable

  • Experience in a field service, technical support, or pre-sales engineering role
  • Background in defence, security, telecommunications, or similar environments
  • Familiarity with RF or wireless communication systems
  • Experience with video streaming/encoding technologies (e.g. H.264 / HEVC)
  • Experience using network troubleshooting tools (e.g. Wireshark)

Why Join DTC:

  • Work with cutting-edge communication technology used in critical environments
  • Be part of a collaborative, customer-focused engineering team
  • Opportunity to work across a wide range of technologies and real-world applications
  • International exposure through travel and customer engagement
  • Ongoing development and training, including support to build RF domain knowledge
  • Flexible working and competitive benefits

Security Clearance (SC) eligibility required. If you enjoy solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, and want to be part of a team delivering high-performance communication systems worldwide, we’d love to hear from you.
