About Us:
Domis Construction is a fast paced main contractor delivering standout residential and commercial projects across the North West and beyond. Known for quality, pace and a hands on approach, we bring together design, delivery and commercial thinking to build with certainty. We are now looking for an Assistant Design Manager to strengthen our Pre Construction function and support the successful delivery of design management across our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating design activities and information flow between internal teams, external consultants, subcontractors and clients
- Manage and develop the design process using Monday workstream checklists, the Pre construction journey and other Monday app tools
- Support development and monitoring of the design programme to meet project timelines and procurement schedules
- Manage, issue and archive design documentation, records and RFIs using Viewpoint
- Review drawings and design information via Viewpoint workflow for completeness, buildability, quality and compliance with project requirements, legislation, standards and codes of practice
- Support identification and mitigation of health, safety, programme and financial risks throughout design and construction
- Attend and contribute to design meetings and workshops, helping resolve design queries and ensuring client requirements are met
- Work alongside the commercial team during procurement and construction to interrogate subcontractor proposals and ensure alignment with design intent and specification
- Support value engineering exercises to deliver cost effective and innovative technical solutions without compromising quality or compliance
Requirements:
- Degree or HND in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Architectural Technology or a related discipline is preferred but not essential
- Previous experience in a design or design coordination role within construction is preferred, ideally with a main contractor or design consultancy
- Technical understanding of construction design principles, detailing, building regulations, planning, and Building Safety Act requirements
- Familiarity with project and design software such as Viewpoint, Monday, CAD systems and BIM workflows is beneficial
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence contributing in meetings
- Strong organisation, time management and problem solving ability, with close attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and support delivery to programme
- Collaborative mindset with leadership potential and a commitment to quality
