We’re looking for a Transport Shift Manager for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract to play a key role in keeping our distribution operation moving – leading drivers and coordinators, ensuring vehicle compliance, and making sure our stores receive what they need, when they need it.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading, motivating and developing a transport team, including 3 coordinators and a driver pool of up to 100 drivers.
- Managing driver performance, infringements and driving capability, including conducting investigations and disciplinary hearings where required.
- Ensuring all deliveries to stores are completed safely, compliantly and on time.
- Maintaining compliance with transport legislation, working time regulations, tachograph law and internal procedures.
- Planning and adjusting staffing levels to meet operational demand, managing absence and overtime effectively.
- Overseeing vehicle compliance and supporting investigations into vehicle or personal accidents, identifying root causes and actions.
- Using systems such as Microlyze, TrueTac and Paragon to manage performance, compliance and delivery execution.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience managing large operational teams, ideally including drivers.
- Strong working knowledge of transport legislation, compliance and vehicle standards.
- Confidence handling performance management and disciplinary processes.
- Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise in a fast‑paced, operational environment.
- Sound judgement and the ability to make decisions autonomously within agreed frameworks.
