About the Role The Machine Learning (ML) Engineer apprenticeship follows an external training programme that develops skills to master the entire ML lifecycle—from data preparation to monitoring of deployed AI solutions. It sits within our Data Platform team in R&D, where you will work alongside data scientists, software engineers, and DevOps engineers to design, build, and deploy machine learning solutions.
This role is ideal for candidates who wish to link data science, software engineering, and DevOps to deploy secure, maintainable ML solutions that solve complex business problems.
There are two entry pathways: Level 6 ML Engineer Apprenticeship for those with sufficient data science/ML knowledge, and an option to first complete our Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship , which builds competence in Python, data visualization, and databases. Upon successful completion of Level 4, you progress to the Level 6 ML Engineering role. Both routes include rotations across teams, offering exposure to a broad range of projects and expertise.

Skills for Direct to Level 6 Experience with coding languages (preferably Python)
