We are seeking an enthusiastic Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Registered General Nurse (RGN) with an anaesthetic module to join our friendly, highly skilled theatre teams at King’s Mill Hospital. You will be part of a supportive, well‑established service that values teamwork, excellence, and patient‑centred care within a busy theatre environment. King’s Mill Hospital has 14 modern operating theatres and a dedicated minor operations suite. Our wide‑ranging specialties include obstetrics, emergency surgery, upper GI, vascular, breast, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, general and colorectal surgery, orthopaedics, and gynaecology, offering excellent opportunities to develop and broaden your skills.
The role includes supporting resuscitation calls, ECT and cardioversion lists, and intra‑ and inter‑hospital transfers. We are committed to professional development and career progression. You will work closely with the Clinical Education Department Leader to ensure training meets NMC/HCPC standards and that competency packs and skills matrices remain robust and up to date.
Key Responsibilities- Support resuscitation calls, ECT and cardioversion lists.
- Assist in intra‑ and inter‑hospital transfers.
- Contribute to the on‑call rota and work unsociable hours as required.
- Adhere to the NMC code or the HCPC conduct, performance and ethics standard.
- Work across sites when necessary.
- 1st level NMC Registered Nurse or HCPC registered ODP at degree or diploma level.
- Evidence of good communication skills with clear written and oral abilities.
- Evidence of effective organisational abilities and supervisory skills.
- Experience in the peri‑operative environment.
- Diploma or degree in operating department practice.
- Degree level Registered Nurse.
- Ability to work across sites and contribute to on‑call rota.
- Adherence to the NMC code or the HCPC conduct, performance and ethics standard.
- Anaesthetic module for registered RGN’s.
- Mentorship or an equivalent qualification.
- Dual role – anaesthetics and scrub.
- Evidence of personal and professional development.
Band 5: £31,049 to £37,796 a year pro‑rata (Agenda for change). Permanent contract – full‑time or part‑time. Working pattern flexible.
