We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary
This role analyzes, develops, implements, and evaluates performance-based technical training for power generation and craft employees with a focus on electrical instruction. This role will support both the Power Station Electrician Development Program and the Maintenance Operator Development Program. Delivers a blend of traditional instructor-led training in a classroom setting, psychomotor on-the-job training in a shop setting. Focuses on creating an excellent culture of safety with an emphasis on Human Performance tools and defenses. Supervises trainees in classroom and shop activities and evaluates knowledge, behavior, and retention of concepts; teaches specific technical subjects, tests employees, and evaluates hands-on performance tasks. Coordinates with site supervision to assess progress and provide feedback within structured training programs. Works with generating sites or other Power Generation groups in a consulting role as a subject matter expert in specific areas of technical support.
Assists in the creation and revision of technical training materials to include instructor guides, training manuals, visual presentations, shop guides, tests, and training videos in conjunction with a training specialist using generally accepted instructional design processes. Understands and can apply adult learning theory concepts. Able to evaluate the effectiveness of training as delivered and revise material accordingly. Able to identify participants with learning difficulties and tutor them or determine the best learning method to use to gain understanding.
Assesses knowledge for advanced placement. Consults with other subject matter experts to clarify and define best practice work procedures and processes. Is knowledgeable of the different equipment and operational practices at all sites and incorporates into training materials. Travels to different locations to take equipment pictures, obtain drawings or information to include in training materials. Instructs classes offsite at generating locations when necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Possess at least 5 years of generation experience.
- Advocate of safe work practices to include Safety Committee member, Human Performance advocate, completes Human Performance Observations.
- Experience in developing and presenting training or safety topics to other personnel preferred.
- Graduate of the Power Station Electrician Development Program (or Maintenance Operator – Electrician) – strongly preferred.
- A Bachelor or Associate Degree in a technical or non-technical discipline will also be considered.
- Working knowledge of generating systems and controls, operating and maintenance procedures; experience or cross-training in maintenance or operations advantageous.
- Strong communication skills including instructor experience, presentation skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Leadership skills in supervising, coaching, training, or mentoring employees.
- Ability to assess readiness in classroom, shop, and generating site knowledge.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and consult with sites on specific equipment issues.
- Capable of understanding highly technical training materials and teaching them to trainees on an entry level.
- Understanding of SAP maintenance processes, work prioritization, job hazard analysis, Human Performance defenses, environmental regulations, as well as LOTO and Minor Maintenance LOTO processes.
- Able to handle most work and aspects of the job using knowledge of the field (skills and/or abilities that provide subject matter experiences and understanding of best practices in operating and maintenance procedures for particular jobs).
- Provide input in setting DEV Training objectives and policy, identifying critical issues, and introducing new concepts; identify and implement better work alternatives and business processes.
- Makes decisions independently.
- Provides assistance, advice, and solutions to peers, customers, and co-workers.
Education Requirements
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant disciplines include Education; other disciplines may be substituted.
Licenses, Certifications, or Qualifications
Graduate of related Dominion Development Program preferred. North Anna and Surry must meet ANSI/ANS 3.1 12/79, Section 4.4.7.2. Candidates for Sr Instructor positions in Nuclear at Innsbrook must meet ANSI/ANS 3.1 1993, Section 4.5.4.
