We are looking for a driven and self-motivated senior mechanical design engineer who is committed to continuous development and determined to achieve success with a growth mindset. The successful applicant will join our Design team and take full advantage of our cutting-edge technology to propose novel solutions to complex problems. You will spend most of your time at our headquarters in central Bristol working on new products or features, responsible for overall concept definition and then detail design, simulation, analysis and prototype procurement of your designs.
You will use your expertise to develop our technologies, proactively give input to others’ designs and provide mentoring. You will also guide the validation and industrialisation of your designs at our Technology Centre in nearby Pucklechurch, and you will grow to lead the engineering of new products across multiple disciplines. You need to be happy with uncertainty, driven to overcome obstacles and relentlessly positive in your search for progress. You will take ownership of your work and actively propose and deliver solutions, managing your own workload effectively to meet challenging goals.
You will have an eye for detail and use your broad and deep knowledge to work effectively with complex systems, supporting those around you to learn from your experience. Key Responsibilities:- Engineering leadership of project teams, peer reviewing and mentoring other engineers.
- System layout, CAD design and technical drawing of mechanical parts and assemblies for additive and subtractive manufacturing.
- Computer aided engineering including FEA and CFD.
- Driving product and process improvements through deep technical analysis.
- Developing strong supplier relationships for prototyping and guiding the manufacture, assembly and testing of your designs.
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver world leading products to our customers.
- Staying abreast of industry trends and keeping our products at the forefront of technology.
- Continuously representing Domin’s virtues and principles in everything you do.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related subject. At least 5 years’ experience in a technical mechanical design role. Experience producing 3D CAD, engineering drawings and documentation. Aptitude for motivating, leading and mentoring other engineers. A deep understanding of multiple engineering disciplines. A strong approach to engineering from first principles. A passion for innovation and a proactive approach to positive change. High levels of personal accountability, ownership and a commitment to personal growth.
Beneficial Requirements:- Experience leading other engineers to deliver technical products.
- Experience in the hydraulics, automotive or aerospace industries.
- Experience using FEA and CFD analysis tools.
- Understanding of electronics, software and control and their impact on mechanical design.
- High level of digital literacy including programming logic.
