We have an exciting opportunity for Digital Platforms & CMS Lead to join our Brand & Communications team here at Domestic & General. The role is responsible for the ownership, governance, and structured evolution of the organisation's corporate digital platforms, including website(s) and intranet. The role ensures these platforms are secure, well-structured, operationally robust, and aligned with brand standards, enabling effective and consistent digital delivery across markets. The role leads CMS governance, platform optimisation, and migration initiatives in partnership with Product and Technology teams. The role maintains technical fluency to operate confidently within digital product environments but does not own engineering delivery or app integration development. SEO ownership within this role focuses on technical hygiene and on-page implementation in collaboration with external specialist agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Digital Platform Ownership & Governance
- Own the corporate website(s) and intranet as governed digital platforms
- Define and enforce CMS standards, workflows, permissions, and publishing controls
- Act as the traffic light authority for CMS-based publishing and structural website changes
- Maintain platform integrity, usability, and operational stability
- Drive continuous improvement of CMS structure and publishing efficiency
- Assess CMS capability against functional, scalability, and security requirements
- Define future CMS needs in collaboration with Brand, Communications, Product, and Technology teams
- Lead CMS selection, transition planning, and phased migration initiatives
- Coordinate structured delivery in partnership with Product and Technology teams
- Act as the primary interface between Brand & Communications and Digital Product teams
- Translate structural and content requirements into technical specifications
- Anticipate and manage platform integration dependencies
- Ensure platforms meet security and compliance standards in collaboration with Technology and Cyber teams
- Develop CMS governance guidance, templates, and publishing standards
- Train and support internal teams on structured publishing best practice
- Enable campaign and communications teams to operate efficiently within defined platform framework
- Own technical SEO hygiene and on-page implementation across corporate web properties
- Ensure metadata, tagging, internal linking, and structural standards are applied consistently
- Partner with external SEO agencies to implement strategic recommendations
- Monitor organic search health indicators and coordinate structural improvements where required
Qualifications
- Proven experience owning or governing CMS-driven digital platforms in complex organisations
- Strong understanding of CMS architecture, workflows, permissions, and content governance
- Technical fluency in web environments (APIs, integrations, authentication, front-end/back-end separation)
- Advanced understanding of technical SEO principles (site structure, indexing, crawlability, schema, performance optimisation)
- Experience implementing on-page SEO best practices, including keyword structuring, metadata optimisation, internal linking, and content formatting
- Ability to guide content teams on SEO-aligned copywriting standards
- Experience working closely with Product and Engineering teams
- Understanding of UX, accessibility standards, and information architecture
- Awareness of cyber security, data protection, and platform risk considerations
