About The Role
Domestic & General is transforming from a traditional IT department into a modern, highly automated, product‑led, DevSecOps‑powered insurance business.
We are seeking a Senior Network Reliability Engineer with deep expertise in Azure networking, hybrid connectivity, and enterprise network resilience. This role will ensure the availability, performance, and security of our global network infrastructure, spanning cloud‑native, hybrid, and on‑premises environments.
The ideal candidate will design and implement scalable, secure, and automated network solutions, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC), monitoring, and self‑healing practices. You will play a key role in modernising network operations, embedding automation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards.
Ensures network reliability and resilience, directly supporting D&G’s digital transformation.
Enables secure, performant connectivity across cloud and on‑premises platforms, underpinning customer‑facing services.
Drives automation and observability in network operations, reducing manual intervention and operational risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure and hybrid network infrastructure ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Automate network provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Bicep, and Ansible.
- Implement robust monitoring and alerting for network health, latency, and security events.
- Collaborate with Security teams to embed Zero Trust, segmentation, and compliance controls.
- Optimise network performance and cost, including ExpressRoute and bandwidth utilisation.
- Lead root cause analysis for network incidents and implement long‑term fixes.
- Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning for network services.
- Stay current with emerging network technologies (SASE, SD‑WAN, cloud‑native firewalls).
- Document network designs, standards, and operational procedures.
- Act as a subject matter expert for network‑related escalations and architecture reviews.
Knowledge and Expertise
- Deep expertise in Azure networking (VNets, Private Link, Application Gateway, Front Door, Load Balancers, Firewall, NSGs/ASGs).
- Strong understanding of hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN, SD‑WAN, MPLS).
- Proficiency in network automation and IaC (Terraform, Bicep, Ansible).
- Skilled in network monitoring and observability (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana, Datadog).
- Knowledge of network security (Zero Trust, segmentation, DDoS protection, WAF).
- Experience in resilient design (HA, DR, failover, chaos testing for networks).
