Group Project Accountant
Location: Hybrid ways of working at our office in Wimbledon.
Salary: Competitive
Contract Type: 12 month fixed-term contract
We\'re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Group Project Accountant to join our Group Finance team. As the group project accountant they will provide support to the Group Financial Controller (and BU FC\'s as required) including leading and/or managing financial and management reporting and control processes, supporting change across Financial Control and overseeing the production of high quality financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities

- Supporting the development of a high-quality finance team.
- Financial reporting
- Oversee the production of month-end results, variance analysis and opportunities and risks vs budget for the financial year to leadership
- Managing the provision of accurate and timely financial reporting (monthly/annual) across all reporting bases (UK GAAP and IFRS)
- Provision of technical accounting issues including consideration of wider impacts e.g. tax, solvency etc and approve material accounting adjustments. Be proactive in ensuring technical matters are resolved quickly and fully documented.
- Review and challenge existing processes and ways of working to support continuous improvement and use of technology.
- Supervise the embedding IFRS 17 calculations, processes and controls with a view to accelerating month-end process
- Financial reporting control framework
- Support compliance with the Financial Risk Control Framework, ensuring all controls are completed and documented to a high standard to also support external audit requirements.
- Working with the FRCF manager and BU FC\'s, identify opportunities to align and standardize processes and controls across the group and lead the changes across the BU\'s
- Stakeholders
- Building strong relationships across the business, including FP&A, Underwriting, Client Management and Service teams

- Provide support/lead on project activity as required
- Act as a delegate for the Group Financial Controller as required
- Assist with ad hoc finance projects and provide support to Director of Corporate Finance
Skills and experience required
- Experienced senior manager with the ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels of the business including senior stakeholders
- Confident, a self-starter, with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment
- Clear written and oral communication skills
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail, good judgment showing logical decision making
- Advanced Excel skills
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices able to make sound day to day accounting decisions and solve accounting issues and problems. Insurance accounting knowledge preferred but not essential.
- Working knowledge of corporation tax, VAT, and IPT
- Experience of establishing and maintaining a robust and effective control environment with appropriate documentation
- Experience of working in regulated environment, including Solvency II reporting requirements preferred
- ACA Qualified accountant or similar
- Business and commercial awareness
- Systems: knowledge of Workday, Cognos (Adayturn) preferred but not essential
