Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, the General Labourer packs, ties, labels, counts and identifies wood using various handling equipment.
Main duties:
- Operate wood handling equipment on the stacking line
- Piling lumber by hand
- Band and wrap lumber
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and yard
- Adhere to all workplace safety rules and regulations
- Adhere to customer service commitments
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Attention to detail
- Able to count and identify wood products of various sizes
- Must have own steel-toe boots
- Basic math skills
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms, and heavier weights as required
- Must be able to speak, read and write English
Education:
- High school diploma is an asset
Employment Status:
- Permanent full-time
Compensation:
- $19.74/hr as per Schedules A & B of the Collective Agreement with the United Steel Workers
- Overtime may be available
- Health benefits
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday
- 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Must be flexible with start and finish times.
