As the Inside Sales Representative (ISR), you will play a primary role in creating excellent customer service impressions. The ISR ensures order accuracy, verifies order details with customers, efficiently enters orders in the system, and relays vital information to operations team members. You will be comfortable selling engineered wood products, siding, decking, railing, and other building material product lines, increasing sales revenue order by order. Our customers range from small independent lumber yards to national home improvement chains and industrial OEM customers.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Maintain and grow existing customer relationships alongside Account Managers / Sales Specialists and Commodity Traders.

INBOUND CALLS AND SALES ORDERS

  • Promptly answer customer phone calls for orders, quotes, and inquiries.
  • Determine customer requirements and secure the maximum invoice value for the order.
  • Sell additional products by recognising opportunities to up-sell or sell complementary products.
  • Answer inquiries by clarifying desired information; researching, locating, and providing information.
  • Enter orders efficiently and accurately into the order system.
  • Relay vital information to operations team members.
  • Handle credits and returns promptly and accurately.
  • In some regions, partner with Account Managers to manage customer relationships.
  • Resolve problems by clarifying issues; researching and exploring answers and alternative solutions; implementing solutions; escalating unresolved problems.

OUTBOUND PHONE CALLS

  • Use the call planning process to place outbound phone calls to customers to promote and sell Doman products and promotion programs.
  • Purpose of outbound calls is to fill delivery trucks, follow up on orders, and offer sales promotions; every opportunity is used to increase the dollar value of an order.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – SALES

  • Excellent customer service skills on the phone.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate customer needs.
  • Comfortable with conducting outbound phone calls to existing customers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – TECHNICAL

  • Able to quickly learn technical information specific to the building industry.
  • Working knowledge of wood frame residential construction is an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – OTHER

  • Very comfortable with Excel, Word, and Outlook; good keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Aptitude for numerical calculations.
  • Excellent English communication skills for influencing sales over the phone.

EDUCATION

  • High school graduation is a requirement.
  • Formal sales training is desirable.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The typical hiring range for this position is $57,000 - $60,000 annually. The base pay offered is based on geographical location and may vary depending on the applicant's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
