Senior Project Engineer in England

England Full-Time On-site
D

At Dolphin ICT, we help businesses across South Yorkshire and beyond get the most out of their IT. As our team continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to take the lead on delivering a wide range of technical projects for our customers.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting hands-on with technology, solving problems and seeing projects through from the initial planning stages right through to successful delivery.

You'll take ownership of your projects, work closely with customers and colleagues, and have the freedom to deliver work to a high standard. It's a senior technical role focused on doing what you do best; engineering, problem-solving and delivering great results, without the responsibility of line management.

What you'll be doing:

  • Taking ownership of projects from start to finish, including, but not limited to, new client onboarding/offboarding, On Prem and Cloud server migrations, Microsoft Azure / 365, network and security deployments.
  • Planning and delivering projects to a high standard, keeping customers informed and ensuring work stays on track and within budget.
  • Acting as the main technical point of contact for your projects, building strong relationships with customers along the way.
  • Producing clear, accurate documentation to ensure the systems you implement can be supported effectively long after go-live.
  • Working alongside our account team to understand customer requirements, scope solutions and help put together project quotes.
  • Sharing your technical knowledge and helping resolve more complex third-line support issues when needed.

What we're looking for:

We're looking for someone with solid technical experience who enjoys taking responsibility, working independently and delivering projects they're proud of.

You'll ideally have:

  • At least 3-5 years' experience in a third-line support or project engineering role, preferably within a managed service provider (MSP).
  • A proven track record of personally delivering technical projects hands on, rather than simply coordinating them.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online, including tenant setup and migrations.
  • Experience with Entra ID and Intune, including device enrolment, compliance policies and Conditional Access.
  • Good knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy and hybrid identity.
  • A solid understanding of networking, including VLANs, routing, VPNs, DHCP and DNS.
  • Experience configuring and managing firewalls.
  • Experience designing and deploying wireless networks.
  • Knowledge of backup solutions, business continuity and security hardening.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several projects at once.
  • A friendly, professional approach to working with customers, with the ability to explain technical concepts in straightforward, everyday language.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Hands-on experience with Aruba, Ruckus or Ubiquiti.
  • Knowledge of CCTV and access control systems.
  • Experience with Azure infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Autotask or a similar Professional Services Automation (PSA) platform.

Why join Dolphin ICT?

  • A choice of working pattern: The option of a four-day or five-day working week.
  • Company pension.
  • SmartHealth employee wellbeing support.
  • Employee counselling support.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
  • Sick pay.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
  • Casual dress code.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Regular team socials and events.
  • A friendly, supportive working environment where your contribution matters.

The salary offered will reflect your experience and whether you choose a four-day or five-day working week.
