tangerine is a strategic design consultancy that helps companies make creative leaps and deliver innovative products, services and experiences. Based in London, the studio has partnered with leading global brands including Apple, British Airways, JAL, LG, Finnair, Hyundai and Volkswagen for nearly four decades.
Internationally recognised as a leader in transportation design, tangerine has collaborated with many of the world’s foremost airlines, rail operators, automotive brands and manufacturers. Its work has resulted in numerous patents and industry-defining designs that create measurable value for both consumers and businesses. Recent highlights include reimagining the British Airways First cabin and becoming the first UK design agency to design one of Japan’s iconic Shinkansen high-speed trains.
This is a full-time, in-person Designer role based in London. The Designer will create innovative, thoughtful and commercially viable design solutions for products, services and customer experiences.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Generating concepts through 2D sketch work and 3D CAD
- Producing visual renderings in Blender
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop holistic and compelling design proposals for clients
- Assessing the suitability and availability of materials
- Creating detailed design specifications using CAD, including parts lists and costings
- Building samples or physical models by hand or using prototyping equipment
- Testing design concepts through digital simulation or hands-on evaluation
- Researching materials, processes, technologies and market requirements
- Exploring and presenting ways of integrating aesthetic, emotional and digital considerations
- Researching and mapping customer experiences and aligning them with behavioural and lifestyle trends
- Monitoring consumer trends and extracting actionable insights
- Travelling occasionally to client facilities to evaluate production feasibility
- Producing both quick low-fidelity renderings and high-fidelity photorealistic visualisations in Blender
Qualifications:
- 4+ years relevant industry experience. Aircraft Interior and Rail design experience is highly desirable.
- Right to work in the UK
- Live and work in London or be within a commutable distance for in-studio working.
- Strong SolidWorks 3D CAD modelling ability and rendering in Blender
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong ability to work within collaborative team environments
- Bachelor’s degree in design, Fine Arts or a related field
- Experience in research-driven design and strategic problem-solving
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to confidently present work to senior design leadership and clients during pitches and design reviews
- Required Software proficiency: SolidWorks, Blender, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office.
