JOB SUMMARY: The Fleet Supervisor leads and manages a team of technicians, overseeing day-to-day operational activities including preventive maintenance and mobile equipment maintenance. This position is responsible for training and developing a safe and efficient hourly workforce through adherence to the company’s safety policies and procedures, MSHA, and other regulations. The Supervisor will assist the Reliability and Maintenance Operations Manager in various duties, including improving the safety program, cost projections, hiring, discipline, performance evaluations, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, and meeting production and cost goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow all company policies and local, state, and federal regulations for safe working procedures.
  • Take a personal role in the safety program by developing relevant topics for discussions and following the program outline.
  • Promote and support the plant safety advocate(s) in their duties.
  • Ensure that all hourly employees receive competent task training to safely perform their job duties.
  • Document all safety training in a timely manner.
  • Complete all necessary reporting requirements promptly.
  • Promote and enforce attendance requirements, observe employee behaviour, and participate in discussions.
  • Schedule employee duties and adjust to changes during the shift based on production demands.
  • Directly supervise all daily activities of assigned hourly production, maintenance, and support personnel.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure all safety, maintenance, and plant cleanup items are addressed correctly and timely.
  • Assist with screening, interviewing, and hiring hourly personnel.
  • Conduct coaching and performance improvement discussions with hourly employees and document them promptly.
  • Evaluate processes and procedures and provide recommendations to optimise operations.
  • Assist with environmental reporting and sampling requirements.
  • Ensure all mobile equipment on site is properly maintained.
  • Evaluate and interpret mobile equipment preventative maintenance oil samples and make necessary corrections.
  • Work closely with vendors to evaluate performance of existing and new products.
  • Develop information for cost justification of capital improvements and optimisation of operating processes.
  • Maintain reliable, regular attendance at the worksite or assigned location.
  • Other duties related to the nature of the job may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a safe work history.
  • Have a positive attitude and proactive approach towards the safety program.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years’ experience in heavy equipment maintenance (Preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including swing shifts, graveyard shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
  • Good leadership abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that fosters effective relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work near, around, or on light and heavy equipment.
  • Currently possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform duties of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 100lbs frequently.
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push, and pull objects.
  • Ability to use vibration-producing tools frequently.
  • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting.
  • Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces.
