Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Global Delivery Engineering leads the Delivery Engineering pillar within Customer Success - the team accountable for executing technical implementation, migrations, custom development, and Professional Services engagements for Dolby Cloud Solutions’ customers who require hands-on engineering involvement. Reporting directly to the head of Customer Success, you ensure these engagements deliver on time, to specification, and with the technical quality necessary for long-term customer success. This is a customer-delivery role, not an engineering-service role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Delivery Engineering team - a globally distributed group of staff-level Delivery Engineers.
- Define the operating model, hold the team accountable to on-time delivery and post-go-live stability, and engage directly on complex onboardings requiring senior technical leadership.
- Own the project portfolio and PS governance - manage capacity, sequencing, and queue health; push back on Sales when timelines exceed capacity; own SOWs, exit criteria, and execution accountability for all PS engagements regardless of who delivers.
- Position Delivery Engineering as a solution design partner to Presales - Delivery Engineers engage as expert technical partners on integration patterns, common architectures, third-party integrations, and operational realities at scale.
- Partner across CS and cross-functionally - the TPM, Technical Account Management, Customer Success Management, Support Operations, and Sales/AEs on engagements, capacity, handoffs, and readiness; represent the pillar in DCS leadership forums.
- Drive AI adoption and continuous improvement - apply AI across project tracking, technical execution, and checkpoint review; aggregate improvement opportunities and route to the right builder (Product/Engineering, Program Management, or internal team tooling).
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles (Delivery, Solutions, or Implementation Engineering) with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior IC role.
- Proven experience leading complex technical implementations - managing stakeholders, hitting aggressive go-live dates, navigating ambiguity.
- Hands-on technical capability across several of: Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, Swift, React; HLS/MPEG-DASH/DRM/AD insertion; REST APIs and webhooks; Docker, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure; observability stacks.
- Deep understanding of end-to-end media delivery workflows - content encoding, transport protocols (HLS, DASH, CMAF, RTMP, SRT, WebRTC), DRM, and CDN distribution architectures - with hands-on experience troubleshooting and optimizing across the delivery chain.
- Strong project portfolio management discipline - managing variable workload, prioritising across competing demands, pushing back when warranted.
- AI-native mindset - actively use AI to amplify delivery capacity; lead teams to do the same.
- Cross-functional leadership - partnering with Sales, TAM, CSM, Support, Product, and Engineering as peers.
- Comfort with significant ambiguity - energized by establishing process where it does not yet exist.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in video streaming, AdTech, broadcast, or media SaaS; familiarity with monitoring/observability tooling; experience leading globally distributed delivery teams.
- Background managing PS engagements with formal scoping and exit criteria; high-growth SaaS experience where processes were built, not inherited.
