The Driver reports to the Branch Yard Operations Manager. The Class A Driver is responsible for their specifically assigned, hands-on tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency of the work performed, and ensuring that safety and quality standards are upheld and maintained.
Driver Responsibilities:
- Able to work flexible hours.
- Must possess a valid CDL license at all times.
- Conducts and documents daily truck inspections.
- Obeys all motor vehicle laws, especially for commercial driving.
- Ensures loads are properly secured on the vehicle when leaving the yard and returning from job sites.
- Driver is required to carry an updated card stating that he/she has had an annual physical that meets the DOT requirements.
- Understands how, is capable, and maintains DOT-required logs.
- Takes responsibility for the proper use, maintenance, and safety of all vehicles and equipment.
- Complies with Federal, State, and Doka loading, unloading, safety, driving, and traffic regulations.
- Ensures equipment is functioning properly and is placed and returned to its proper location in the yard.
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
Other Responsibilities/Peripheral Functions:
- Properly follows maintenance procedures.
- Properly wears all required personal protective equipment.
- Immediately reports all incidents, accidents, unsafe work conditions, problems, or concerns to the immediate supervisor.
- Willingly participates in all mandatory training classes.
- Consistently maintains a clean, well-maintained, and organized work area.
- Consistently complies with all safety requirements.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and work overtime hours as required.
- Other duties/projects as assigned, including participating in company committees/teams.
- Complies with all company policies, business, and safety practices.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate.
- Must possess a valid Class A CDL and state motor vehicle licenses at all times.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with a safe driving record in commercial driving with a Class A CDL license.
- Able to read maps and possess a keen sense of direction.
- Excellent communication skills, including an excellent command of English (speaking, reading, writing). Bilingual Spanish a plus.
- Complies with Doka Standards regarding bundling and stacking requirements, including quality, safety, accuracy, productivity, etc.
- Team player.
- Able to work independently in a results-driven, fast-paced environment.
