We’re reinventing payments. In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose‑built for in‑person commerce, is game changing. Now, over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year. But we’re just getting started.
Our Mission
We are on a journey to become a truly product‑first organisation. Having built a world‑class infrastructure, we are now focused on creating a deeply integrated ecosystem where our products are the primary drivers of customer value and business growth.
The Role
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be at the heart of this transition. You will be architecting the economic lens through which we view our future, untangling the complex relationship between product engagement and commercial health, and providing the evidence needed to align our strategic direction with product innovation.
What You’ll Do
- Causal Retention Modelling: Lead the development of causal models to untangle the relationship between product engagement and long‑term customer retention, quantifying the "stickiness" of specific features.
- Lifecycle Value (LTV) Architecture: Design and implement a comprehensive "Expansion LTV" framework that combines churn‑reduction data and revenue estimates to guide investment guardrails and prioritisation.
- Portfolio Health & Forecasting: Formulate high‑fidelity, bottom‑up revenue models accounting for customer eligibility, conversion funnels, and seasonal trends to ensure long‑term commercial objectives are met.
- Scientific Rigour & Methodology: Implement best‑in‑class methodologies to guarantee that our strategic decisions are based on statistical truth.
- Uplift Data Science Culture and Evangelise Best Practices: Champion the transition to predictive and causal modelling, owning standards for version control, code quality (Python/SQL), and reproducible research.
- Mentorship & Coaching: Develop the next generation of analysts and data scientists through guidance, peer reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Stakeholder Influence: Act as a strategic partner to General Managers and Product leads, translating complex findings into actionable commercial recommendations that drive the bottom line.
What You’ll Bring
- Technical Excellence: Expert‑level proficiency in Python and SQL, comfortable building and deploying models within a modern data stack (BigQuery/Snowflake, dbt, Git).
- Methodological Depth: Extensive experience in Causal Inference, Time‑Series Forecasting, and Advanced Statistics.
- Commercial Acumen: Think in terms of unit economics—LTV, CAC, and Payback cycles—with a track record of connecting data science initiatives to tangible business P&L impact.
- Experience: 5+ years in a Data Science role, preferably within a high‑growth fintech, SaaS, or revenue‑driven environment.
- Ownership Mindset: Proactive self‑starter who spots the "value gap" and builds models to fill it.
- Communication Mastery: Explain Bayesian forecasts to developers and the "so what" to CEOs with clarity and impact.
Dojo home and away
We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in person. These "together days" foster communication, drive innovation, and spark our brightest ideas. That’s why we have an office‑first culture: working from the office 4+ days per week. Offices across Europe provide quiet zones for deep focus, collaborative spaces for big ideas, and social hubs for quick catch‑ups. Do work that counts in spaces made for you.
Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?
You’re curious: a real desire to learn and create. You’re relentless: you keep going even when it’s easier not to. You’re customer‑obsessed: you know how important customers are to what you do.

How to prepare for a job interview at Dojo
✨Know Your Data Science Stuff
Make sure you brush up on your technical skills, especially in Python and SQL. Be ready to discuss your experience with causal inference and time-series forecasting, as these are key for the role. Prepare examples of how you've applied these methodologies in real-world scenarios.
✨Understand the Business Impact
Get familiar with concepts like LTV, CAC, and payback cycles. Be prepared to explain how your data science work has directly influenced business outcomes in previous roles. This will show that you can connect the dots between data insights and commercial success.
✨Communicate Clearly
Practice explaining complex data concepts in simple terms. You might need to present your findings to stakeholders who aren't data experts, so being able to articulate the 'so what' is crucial. Think about how you would explain Bayesian forecasts to someone without a technical background.
✨Show Your Curiosity and Ownership
Demonstrate your proactive mindset by discussing times when you identified a 'value gap' and took the initiative to address it. Share examples of how your curiosity has driven you to learn new techniques or explore innovative solutions in your past roles.
