The role of the Senior Engineering Team Lead for Dojo Device OS involves leading a talented team of Android engineers responsible for building a foundational software platform on top of our Android stack. This position is crucial in enabling both Dojo and third-party partners to build and run applications on our hardware, contributing to our long-term vision.
What you will do:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Android engineers, fostering a collaborative and open culture where problems are solved effectively.
- Drive the technical execution and delivery of the team roadmap, ensuring a high rate of delivery in an agile environment while maintaining exceptional quality.
- Take technical responsibility for the entire software development lifecycle, from architectural design and SDK definition to deployment and operational health.
- Build the foundational software platform, including a Launcher application and device-specific SDKs, that enables a seamless experience for both our own and our partners' applications.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and leads of adjacent teams to align on strategy and deliver a cohesive product experience.
What you will bring:
- Proven experience in a technical leadership role, managing and mentoring a team of Android engineers in a high-impact area.
- A strong, hands-on background in Android development, with deep knowledge of Kotlin and modern frameworks (e.g., Jetpack Compose).
- Experience in library or SDK development, with an understanding of how to build extensible software for other developers to use.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align and influence both technical and non-technical partners.
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with experience in agile methodologies and a strong belief in quality, automated testing, and CI/CD.
- Product-centric thinking, with a genuine passion for creating elegant, reliable software that solves real-world customer and partner problems.
- Experience in working with low level device libraries or AOSP would be a bonus!
