Overview
Head of Product — Payments at Dojo. We’re reinventing payments. In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose-built for in-person commerce, is game changing. Over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year. Our people are our greatest investment and our ultimate competitive advantage.
The Role: Core Payments is the engine behind every transaction at Dojo — authorisation, acquiring, settlement, and reconciliation across markets. It enables businesses to take more payments, faster, and delivers the reliable, always-on experience that merchants trust to keep cash flowing and customers moving. As Head of Product for this domain, you’ll lead the strategy and execution that directly impacts Dojo’s growth and profitability, driving cost efficiency and unlocking new payment-driven revenue streams.
What You Will Do
- Define and drive the product vision for Payments. Set a clear long-term direction for our platform that balances scale, cost-efficiency, and merchant value. Translate that vision into strategy, roadmap, and execution.
- Lead and grow the payments product team. Manage a team of Product Managers. Hire top-tier talent, develop their thinking, and instil a high-performance culture focused on ownership, precision, and outcomes.
- Scale and harden the platform. Work with Engineering to make payments more resilient, extensible, and efficient. Design for real-world complexity — market launches, system load, scheme changes, and edge cases.
- Optimise core flows. Redesign acquiring, authorisation, settlement, and reconciliation to reduce operational cost, improve merchant experience, and increase margin.
- Drive cross-functional execution. Align Engineering, Ops, Finance, Risk, and Commercial around common goals. Make clear trade-offs, sequence work effectively, and ensure momentum across teams.
- Lead key partnerships. Own the commercial and technical relationships with card schemes, processors, banks, and fintechs. Influence partner roadmaps and negotiate terms that strengthen our position.
- Anticipate and embed regulation. Work with Compliance to build products that meet PSD2, SCA, PCI-DSS, and market-specific mandates without adding merchant drag or slowing teams down.
- Turn operations into a competitive advantage. Use data to eliminate manual steps, automate reconciliation, and unlock scalable efficiencies across the stack.
What You Will Bring
- Experience in payments at a PSP, acquirer, issuer, or scaled merchant. Deep knowledge of payment technology. Deep fluency in acquiring, authorisation, and settlement flows.
- Experience owning and scaling infrastructure in a high-growth environment. You have delivered platforms that evolve over years, not just quarters.
- Proven leadership of strong product teams. You build clarity, develop talent, and set high standards for execution and impact.
- Strong commercial instincts. You’ve led co-development with partners and negotiated contracts that drive revenue and reduce cost.
- Strategic and operational range. You connect long-term direction to short-term focus, and move seamlessly between platform-level thinking and team-level execution.
- Clear communicator and cross-functional operator. You keep teams and stakeholders aligned and unblocked without resorting to process theatre.
- Willingness to travel across our European footprint to build relationships and unblock progress in-market.
Culture and Requirements
Dojo home and away — We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These “together days” foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas. That’s why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week. With offices across Europe, we stay dynamic. Deep focus zones and collaboration spaces are available for different work needs.
Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed? If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.
