The Opportunity
We are hiring a Director, Commercial Finance EMEA to serve as the commercial right hand to the CFO and the financial authority across our global go‑to‑market organization. This is a senior leadership role at the intersection of Finance and Sales. You will own commercial governance, lead the Commission Committee, and serve as Finance’s primary partner to Sales leadership on deal strategy, pricing, and incentive design. You will ensure that growth translates into predictable, profitable financial outcomes – balancing bookings acceleration with margin integrity, cash flow discipline, and long‑term value creation. This is not a transactional operations role. It is a strategic finance leadership position responsible for commercial decision‑making, incentive governance, and GTM financial rigor.
Responsibilities
- Commercial Strategy & Deal Governance
- Serve as Finance’s decision authority within Deal Desk for complex, strategic, and non‑standard transactions
- Partner directly with Sales leadership to structure deals that optimize growth, margin, and risk
- Establish financial guardrails for pricing, discounting, and commercial terms
- Provide clear go / no‑go financial guidance on high‑impact deals
- Escalate material economic or structural risks to executive leadership
- Translate bookings activity into forward‑looking financial impact across margin, cash, and revenue predictability
- Commission Committee Ownership & Incentive Governance
- Chair and own the global Commission Committee, setting agenda, governance standards, and decision frameworks
- Define approval thresholds and financial guardrails for commission plans and exceptions
- Ensure incentive structures align with GTM strategy, profitability targets, and long‑term financial sustainability
- Serve as the final Finance authority on commission economics and plan design
- Lead modeling, scenario analysis, and impact assessments for new or revised incentive plans
- Ensure full transparency, auditability, and scalability of commission processes
- GTM Financial Partnership
- Act as the CFO’s primary commercial finance partner to the CRO and GTM leadership
- Bridge sales strategy to financial outcomes, ensuring clear linkage between bookings, margin, and enterprise value
- Partner with RevOps and Sales Operations to optimize deal velocity while preserving economic discipline
- Provide executive‑ready analysis on GTM performance, incentive cost as a percentage of gross margin, and long‑term profitability trends
- Evaluate new business models, pricing constructs, and revenue streams with a disciplined financial lens
- Financial Modeling & Commercial Insights
- Build and maintain advanced models to evaluate deal economics, contribution margin, incentive cost, and scenario outcomes
- Quantify trade‑offs between growth acceleration and margin compression
- Provide clear executive narratives linking GTM activity to financial performance
- Standardize global commercial reporting to drive consistency and transparency
- Payout Validation & Controls
- Own commission payout governance in partnership with Accounting
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payouts aligned with the company’s business model
- Design scalable controls to minimize risk, reduce manual intervention, and support audit requirements
- Continuously improve commercial and commission processes to support global scale
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of experience in Commercial Finance, GTM Finance, Sales Finance, or Deal Strategy leadership roles
- Proven experience owning commission governance and influencing incentive plan design at scale
- Deep understanding of bookings mechanics, deal economics, margin structures, and revenue recognition considerations
- Experience partnering directly with CRO‑level stakeholders and executive leadership
- Strong financial modeling capabilities with the ability to distill complex analysis into clear business recommendations
- Experience in SaaS, cloud, marketplace, or reseller‑based business models strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to influence, challenge, and drive alignment across cross‑functional executive stakeholders
What Success Looks Like
- Commercial decisions consistently balance growth, margin, and risk
- Commission structures drive durable, profitable revenue rather than short‑term bookings distortion
- Finance is a proactive voice in GTM strategy, not a downstream reviewer
- Deal Desk operates with clear financial guardrails and minimal late‑stage escalations
- Incentive governance is disciplined, transparent, and audit‑ready
- Leadership has clear visibility into how GTM execution translates into financial performance and enterprise value
