Tunnelling Technical Director/Team Lead
Full‑time, hybrid location in Birmingham, UK.
Lead a team of 15‑20 engineers in tunnelling and underground structures, driving technical excellence, stakeholder engagement, and safe delivery.
- Job Duties
- Ensure a strong safety culture and performance, including risk assessments, incident reporting, and safety observations.
- Coordinate and contribute to business development activities, develop relationships with public sector and contractor clients, and lead proposal production.
- Maintain quality control and accurate data reporting on safety, financial performance, work pipeline, and other key metrics.
- Lead and influence workplace culture, communication, and collaboration to raise morale and productivity.
- Collaborate with clients and industry bodies to position the company for successful tenders and maintain a leading industry role.
- Participate in technical delivery of projects, acting as Technical Lead, Design Manager or Project Manager as required.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil, Geotechnical or related engineering field with leadership experience in tunnelling.
- Chartered Engineer (EI, ICE, IStruct E or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with rock and soft ground tunnelling, shafts, and deep excavations for transportation, energy, and utility projects.
- Experience on large, multidisciplinary projects and ability to engage across disciplines and interfaces.
