Specialty Doctor in Respiratory Medicine

Contract: Permanent | Location: London, Greater London | Salary: £55,825 – £90,000 a year pro rata per annum

We’re seeking a Respiratory Medicine Specialty Doctor to join an NHS Trust in London on a permanent basis.

The Respiratory Medicine service is currently supported by 10 full‑time equivalent (WTE) consultants and their junior teams, covering specialty interests such as lung cancer, pleural disease, COPD, asthma, cough, tuberculosis, allergy, interstitial lung disease, palliative care, and bronchiectasis.

A Chest Clinic provides a comprehensive range of out‑patient services, including new and follow‑up consultations, full lung function tests, sleep services, skin prick testing, and anti‑Ig E therapy for suitable asthma patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior‑level support to the department.
  • Attend ward rounds and review patients with clinical problems outside the respiratory bed base and respiratory HDU.
  • Participate in ward and board rounds with consultants and specialty training doctors/Foundation Year 2 doctors.
  • Possibly conduct unaccompanied ward rounds.
  • Manage out‑patient clinics and associated administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • GMC registration, or eligibility to join the register within 6 months.
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification.
