Responsibilities
Involved in all stages of the customer’s sales lifecycle in the role of trusted technical advisor.
- Building sales presentations, product demonstrations, and educating customers (developers to C‑level executives) on how to secure identity.
- Empathizing with customers and quickly discerning their true technical needs by asking detailed and clarifying questions and presenting solutions that target those needs.
- Using technical savviness and business insights to advise a diverse set of customers on what is possible using Okta’s Identity Platform.
Qualifications
- Passion to serve the customer, with experience working within Presales (e. g. Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Presales Consultant).
- Ability to quickly communicate complex ideas around a technical topic, ideally on the fly at a whiteboard.
- Knowledge of and/or experience with at least one standard network security protocol (e. g. OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, LDAP).
- Knowledge of and/or experience in identity governance and administration (IGA): identity lifecycle management, access reviews, role-based access control (RBAC), and policy enforcement.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in Privilege Access Management (PAM): familiarity with concepts such as least privilege, just-in-time (JIT) access, session monitoring, and vaulting privileged credentials to secure critical assets.
- Understanding of core security concerns within a typical application (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF).
- Understanding of sales methodologies and best practice, including awareness of MEDDPICCC.
- Experience working with Large Enterprise and/or Strategic sectors.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate business value.
- Ability to disperse knowledge to a highly skilled and experienced audience.
- Enjoy travel and meeting customers.
- Enjoy collaborating with cross functional teams to drive success.
- Extra credit if you have experience in Identity & Access Management, Single Sign‑on, and API‑based solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a comparable field; Software Developer experience preferred.
