Are you ready to support and help lead a team of talented engineers and shape the future of the water industry?
Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal Civil Engineer in one of our Scotland offices — Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness or Perth — while utilising our flexible hybrid working model.
AECOM is at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients.
We have been named as one of two Primary Designers for Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise, a transformational, multi-billion-pound programme that will reshape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential to extend for another 6 years).
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to this programme and collaborate with a diverse team committed to innovation and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes that meet client expectations and manage design scope within budget and programme constraints.
- Technical
Expertise: Apply strong technical understanding, stay current with industry practices and innovations, and lead quality assurance for project deliverables to ensure standards and client requirements are met.
- Team
Development: Lead the development and management of design teams in the Perth office, collaborate with colleagues across the UK and Ireland, mentor junior staff, and foster a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
- Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a strong communicator capable of engaging with clients, team members, and external partners across multiple projects.
- Health & Safety Leadership: Maintain a strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation and embed a safety-first culture within your area of responsibility.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Proven experience in civil engineering leadership within water/energy infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical background with experience in design delivery, quality assurance, and stakeholder management.
- Ability to mentor and develop junior staff and work effectively across multiple sites and teams.
- Commitment to health and safety best practices and compliance with applicable legislation.
