Overview
Engineering Manager leads the site's engineering team, driving operational excellence, safety, and compliance.
Responsible for developing and implementing a maintenance strategy to maximise efficiency and reliability of equipment and infrastructure.
The role includes continuous improvement, cost control, and strategic planning.
Oversees engineering activities to ensure alignment with internal and external compliance requirements, including risk assessments, contractor safety, and maintaining a safe working environment.
Works with cross-functional teams to ensure that maintenance and engineering projects meet food safety and quality standards, and investigates equipment-related product quality issues.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a preventative maintenance program to ensure a stable and reliably functioning site.
When unexpected issues arise, respond efficiently to minimise downtime while prioritising customer needs.
Review asset management plans and align maintenance strategies with overall business objectives.
Manage the engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement of spare parts, labour, and equipment while delivering long-term value.
Drive engineering projects and manage capital expenditure (Cap Ex) and operational expenditure (Op Ex) to ensure successful delivery.
Provide leadership that guides the team through projects and balances operational requirements with business goals.
Lead and motivate the engineering team, ensuring clear objectives aligned with the wider operational strategy.
Conduct regular one-to-ones, create training plans, and perform structured performance reviews to foster a high-performing team with ongoing development and succession planning.
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading engineering teams in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies, asset management, and preventive maintenance.
- Experience managing Cap Ex and Op Ex and budget planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
