Overview

As a Customer Data Scientist at Datadog, you will partner directly with customers to help them design, execute, and scale high-impact experimentation programs.

You will guide customers through experiment design, metric development, and data validation, helping them build trustworthy, decision‑driven experimentation practices.

Working cross‑functionally with Sales, Product, and Engineering, you’ll play a key role in both customer success and product evolution.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a technical and analytical partner to customers across pre‑sales and post‑sales engagements, demonstrating the value of Datadog’s experimentation capabilities.
  • Support proofs of concept by helping customers define metrics, validate data pipelines, and design statistically sound experiments.
  • Educate customers on best practices in experiment design and interpretation across product, marketing, pricing, and AI‑driven use cases.
  • Enable long‑term customer success by building strong experimentation practices and analytical rigor within their teams.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to translate customer feedback into product improvements and roadmap input.
  • Partner with Sales and Solutions teams to navigate complex customer needs, address objections, and build trusted relationships.

Who You Are

  • 4+ years of experience in data science with a strong foundation in statistics, causal inference, and experimental design in applied business or product contexts.
  • Hands‑on experience running A/B tests and applying advanced experimentation methods such as holdouts, bandits, synthetic controls, or geo‑based testing.
  • Fluent in SQL and comfortable working with data warehouses and pipelines to diagnose and resolve data quality issues.
  • Experienced in customer‑facing, consulting, or pre‑sales environments, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Skilled at translating analytical insights into business impact, influencing decisions across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with experimentation platforms, analytics tooling, or modern data stack technologies (e. g., dbt, Airflow) is a plus.
