About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated person who has excellent written and verbal communication skills and who wants to make a difference in the electrical engineering field of building services.
We are specifically looking to appoint an electrical engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical building services design.
Some design experience and knowledge is required for low voltage distribution systems, lighting and emergency lighting, fire detection and alarms, and lighting protection.
We have a number of in-house digital tools which the engineer will be trained to use.
Experience in using building services engineering software, Autodesk Revit, and a willingness to learn as an electrical building services engineer are essential.
Office & team
The Croydon MEP team consists of approximately 16 engineers, with plans to grow over the next few years.
The team works closely with our St Albans and London offices, and the candidate may be required to work in these offices from time to time with resources shared to support teams when needed.
The Croydon office MEP team has an established track record of delivering local and regional projects.
Flagship work includes No 1 Knightsbridge, One Braham, Sackville House, Lots Road Powerhouse, London Ambulance Services South London 11 Control Centre; Tower Bridge; London Power Tunnel 2; Snowdonia VIP Cable Tunnel, among others.
We are also working on several public and private sector decarbonisation schemes.
- Job Responsibilities
- Supporting multiple projects and teams with direct design and delivery activities for all phases of a project or multiple projects.
- Performing specific and limited portions of a broader assignment under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
- Gathering and correlating basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Working on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations.
- Proposing approaches to solve new problems encountered.
- Identifying discrepancies in results.
- Providing guidance to trainee engineers.
- Performing work in accordance with agreed timeframes with supervision.
- Contributing to the development of technical proposals.
- Supporting and leading 3D and BIM capabilities.
- Minimum Requirements
- Knowledge and experience of electrical building services calculations and design.
- A highly motivated individual able to quickly grasp new concepts and design tools.
- Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations.
- Relevant experience in building services electrical engineering design, including specification writing, calculations, and development, with familiarity of UK codes and practices.
