Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking an experienced Band 7 Pharmacy Technician within Medicines Procurement to join the pharmacy team in Kent. This senior role offers the opportunity to lead medicines procurement services, ensuring efficient supply, cost‑effective purchasing, and continuity of care across the Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing medicines shortages, supporting clinical teams, and leading procurement strategies to deliver best value and optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the medicines procurement team to ensure effective sourcing and supply of medicines.
  • Manage medicines shortages and identify suitable alternatives in collaboration with clinical teams.
  • Act as the key link between procurement and ward‑based clinical teams.
  • Lead on contract management and procurement strategy to maximise NHS resources.
  • Support the procurement of pre‑made batch chemotherapy to meet cancer service needs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Significant NHS hospital experience, including procurement and supply chain.
  • Experience working at Band 7 level or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medicines procurement processes and financial management within the NHS.
