About the Role
This role will best suit an experienced Head of PMO with proven expertise in leading a Project Management Office that delivers mid-sized Microsoft cloud projects (primarily Microsoft 365 and Azure) to SME customers. As a leader on the PMO, you will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from post-sales through delivery and transition into operations, drive success, and set the strategic direction for the PMO. Your focus will be on delivering successful project outcomes through strong operational effectiveness and rigour.
Main responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing PMO team by setting clear goals, fostering a culture of accountability, and promoting continuous learning. Provide regular coaching and feedback, support career development, and ensure the team remains motivated, focused, and aligned with the organisation's strategic objectives.
- Customer engagement & stakeholder management: Own the success for building and maintaining strong relationships with DA customers and DA internal stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and successful project delivery outcomes.
- Communication Strategy: Develop and execute communication strategies to ensure clarity, alignment, and engagement across internal stakeholders and clients.
- Project methodology & delivery: Design scalable, efficient processes that allow for the delivery of exceptional projects and support professional services growth. Implement, and continuously improve the end-to-end project delivery methodology to ensure consistency, quality, and agility across all engagements.
- Project risk & change control: Build and maintain the process to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations. Chair the Change Advisory Board, assessing and mitigating project overruns; evolve the process to ensure growing scope is matched with revenue.
- Resource management: Lead resource planning and allocation to ensure optimal team performance and project delivery. Ensure the work pipeline is matched by the resource profile.
- Project performance tracking: Establish and manage KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to monitor project health, timelines, and financials.
- Commercial management: Oversee commercial governance across the PMO; create management reports that highlight the utilisation and profitability of projects and staff.
Experience & background
- Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, Agile / Scrum)
- Established PMO leader within an IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) background
- Hands-on experience managing a project delivery function, specifically within a Microsoft cloud environment
- Proven track record in evolving and scaling complex project delivery teams
- Commercially astute (strong understanding of project financial governance - effective budgeting, managing scope change, and forecasting)
- Proven track record in successfully leading people and effectively managing key employee processes (onboarding, performance, development)
