Description

Are you an organised, experienced dog lover, who wants to play a critical role in our mission to rehome as many dogs as possible?
We\’re looking for a Transfer Coordinator, based at our rehoming centre in Ballymena, to lead and manage the transfer of dogs from Northern Ireland to our rehoming network. This is a part-time role for 30 hours per week.

What does this role do?

As Transfer Coordinator, you\’ll:

  • work closely with centre management to identify suitable dogs for intake and transfer, assessing suitability for rehoming and making pragmatic decisions with dog welfare at the forefront,
  • collaborate with colleagues across Dogs Trust to plan capacity and arrange transfer for dogs across the rehoming network,
  • provide excellent care to dogs awaiting transfer and preparing them for their onward journeys to rehoming centres in the network,
  • build relationships with external organisations, working effectively to rehome as many dogs as possible.

Interviews for this role are provisionally scheduled for 24th September 2025 at our rehoming centre in Ballymena.

Could this be you?

To be successful in this role, you\’ll need some experience of working in a kennel or rehoming environment, as well as excellent knowledge of dog welfare and behaviour. Specifically, you\’ll need to understand dog behaviour in the kennel context, and the welfare considerations and challenges that arise. Relationships are a key part of this role, so you\’ll need to be a strong communicator with great interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships. This role often works independently, so you\’ll need to be self-motivated, organised, and have good judgement to make sensible decisions for excellent dog welfare outcomes.
