We are looking for reliable, structured, and flexible individuals to join our team as a Party Chief / Senior Surveyor. If you take responsibility for delivering high-quality work on time, act with strong ethical standards, and thrive in a dynamic work environment, this role could be a great fit for you. This is an offshore position.
What You'll Do
- Operate Survey Equipment: Use state-of-the-art technology to collect, analyse, and record data to the highest standards, ensuring everything is accurate and up to regulations. Prepare, use, and maintain all relevant survey logs, documentation and reports. Monitor real-time displays; examine calibration, data plots and charts/maps. Be familiar with equipment lists, checklists, service reports, and confirm that there is no shortage of equipment and parts.
- Focus on Safety: Report and follow up deficiencies, damaged equipment, safety hazards, or incidents by using the appropriate reporting system (e.g., failure/breakdown, SJA, non-conformity).
- Collaboration is Key: Work alongside survey personnel onshore and offshore, ROV crew, Shift Supervisors and management to ensure smooth operations, while providing input and suggestions for improvements in team performance and operations. Manage and run a professional survey team offshore to ensure the highest standard of project deliverable.
- Maintain Equipment: Keep survey-related equipment in excellent working condition, making sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Reporting & Problem-Solving: Report key findings to senior team members, identify issues, and actively contribute to solutions that optimise our workflows.
- Innovation Focus: Get hands-on with the latest in survey technology and contribute to the development of new systems in renewable energy, offshore decommissioning, and more.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Hydrographic Survey, Geomatics, or a similar field.
- Experience in Surveying or Hydrographic Surveying.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Document Control Systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organisation and time management.
- Permanent residency in the UK is required for this role.

- Plan and perform Risk assessments and toolbox talks.
- Guide and instruct junior personnel in use of equipment and survey principles.
- Assist junior personnel working through their DOF competency scheme.
- Assess calibration requirements and ensure all systems and sensors are in calibration.
- Understand IT systems and networking.
- Ensure Data Management on project is being run correctly.
- Conduct fair personnel assessments.
- Supervise and manage the survey team.
- Ensure all documentation and deliverables are kept up to date and as per company and project procedures.
- Report effectively to onshore management team and to clients offshore.
- Show effective leadership.
- Prepare offshore survey reports.
- Ensure any handovers are updated both on and offshore.
- Verify all systems are working as expected and give guidance of any necessary changes or improvements.
