Job Introduction

The Occupational Therapy Service forms part of the SEND Inspection Support and Engagement Team within Children's Services. The team provides specialist assessment support, advice and intervention to externally commissioned services to support children and young people with disabilities and additional needs to maximise independence, participation and wellbeing. Working closely with providers, families, education, health and social care partners, we promote high-quality, person-centred practice through professional leadership, quality assurance, workforce development and continuous service improvement. Professional matrix management, clinical supervision and occupational therapy professional leadership will be provided by the Adults Occupational Therapy Service, ensuring a consistent professional framework and opportunities for shared learning across services.

Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team in Children Services. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.

The Main Responsibilities Of This Role

  • .This role will support the Occupational Therapy services across children's services to deliver high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy provision. The postholder will contribute to the oversight, quality assurance and continuous improvement of both in-house and commissioned services, whilst supporting the development of staff, professional practice and the wider service offer.
  • You will be bringing specialist knowledge of complex disability, health issues and housing to contribute to the management and development of the Occupational Therapy Department and lead on, or contribute to, new projects both within the team and across other departments and/or partners and deputise for Team Managers in their absence.
  • You will undertake mentoring to new Occupational Therapy Assessors/Occupational Therapists, including supervision responsibilities to support their learning, seek out opportunities for their development and coaching as required to enhance the service offer from the OT Service.
