The Communities and Regulatory Services team plays a central role in improving quality of life for residents and ensuring that local neighbourhoods are safe, healthy and inclusive. The Service works at the heart of the community, delivering a wide range of frontline, regulatory and support functions that help people thrive and places prosper. This includes close partnership working with residents, elected Members, local organisations, emergency services and other public sector partners. The Service operates in a complex and fast‑moving environment, balancing statutory duties, performance expectations, financial management and strong governance. It is committed to continuous improvement, effective use of data and systems, and delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused services. Staff within Communities and Regulatory Services are supported to work collaboratively, think innovatively and take pride in making a real difference to the lives of local people.

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and dynamic Executive Support Officer to provide high‑level professional support to the Safer Bradford Service. This is a key role within the Service, combining performance analysis, systems leadership, HR support and governance responsibilities. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Service operates efficiently, compliantly and consistently, acting as a trusted and reliable adviser and first point of contact on systems, data, and corporate requirements. This role is offered as permanent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Safer Bradford in the management of the Service through analysing and presenting regular reports and through providing systems’ support for the Service, analysing financial and management reports prepared for the service and reporting on variances and exceptions.
  • Act as ‘note taker’ when required for formal meetings, including Boards, Marac, Case meetings, trade union meetings, disciplinaries and grievances and general management meetings including taking and distributing messages, logging and scanning post and monitoring shared inboxes.
  • Provide ‘super-user’ type support for systems for the Service and to attend all necessary liaison and training meetings with regard to these matters.
  • Provide HR systems support to, as required by HR, including the role of Departmental Champion for Redeployment and assisting HR with the control of vacancies within the department.
  • Take lead responsibility for the Service HR systems and related matters, including sickness and absence recording and monitoring, taking the role of Service Attendance Champion, attending all necessary training and meetings with regard to these matters.
  • Be the designated Complaints/Freedom of Information Gatekeeper for the Service.
  • Take an active role in all GDPR & Data Protection matters, advising other members of the Service.
  • Be lead for the service on developing and managing office systems requiring a consistent implementation across the service to support the needs of the Service.
  • Provide support to ensure the Service complies with the Council Key Controls and provide support and guidance on Key Controls across the service.
  • Prepare reports for Safer Bradford and central team and develop recommendations for changes in policies and procedures as appropriate to the needs of the Service.

About You

  • You will be highly analytical, with the ability to interpret and present complex data clearly for senior managers.
  • Confident working with performance, financial and HR systems, with the ability to act as a systems champion and trainer.
  • Organised and detail‑focused, with experience of supporting senior leaders in a complex organisation.
  • Knowledgeable about local authority governance, including FOI, complaints handling and data protection requirements.
  • A strong communicator, able to provide clear advice, build effective relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
