About the role
We’re looking for an Account Manager to join our commercial team and take ownership of a portfolio of clients across the public affairs, PR, financial services, and corporate sectors, including some high-profile accounts.
Day to day, you'll be managing relationships, driving renewals, and spotting opportunities to upsell and cross-sell across Dods’ suite of products and services. That means getting to know your clients properly - understanding their goals, their pressures, and where Dods can genuinely add value - and then making it happen.
You’ll work closely with our Customer Success team and Political Consultants, with the support of the Senior Account Manager. You'll also get out and about at conferences and industry events, which is a big part of how we build and maintain strong client relationships.
The role suits someone who’s comfortable in a client-facing role. If you’re commercially sharp and naturally curious about politics and policy, this role will be a great fit for you.
This role is based at our London office in Borough. Colleagues typically spend 2–3 days per week in the office, with the remainder working from home.
Key responsibilities
- Managing and growing a portfolio of existing accounts, with a focus on retention, upsell, and cross-sell
- Building genuine relationships with clients - regular meetings, proactive check-ins, understanding their KPIs
- Collaborating closely with our Political Consultants and Customer Success teams to make sure client objectives are understood and translated into work that delivers real results for them
- Attending conferences and events to strengthen client engagement and spot new opportunities
- Generating new leads through a mix of events, referrals, and outbound activity
- Supporting the Senior Account Manager with account planning, pipeline management, opportunity assessment, and lead generation
- Managing tender processes accurately and to deadline
- Keeping on top of CRM, budgets, and finance reporting
What are we looking for?
Our ideal candidate will have:
Essential:
- Experience working in a quota-driven sales or account management environment
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, from day-to-day contacts to senior stakeholders, and able to communicate clearly and credibly in writing, on calls, and face to face
- Commercially minded, with the ability to spot upsell and renewal opportunities, understand how clients make purchasing decisions, manage a pipeline accurately, and talk confidently about value, pricing, and ROI
- Comfortable working with a diverse client base spanning corporate, government, NGO, and advisory organisations, and able to adapt your style and conversations to suit different stakeholders and sectors
- Comfortable negotiating renewals and contract terms, with the attention to detail needed to manage agreements accurately and see them through to completion
- Highly organised, with the ability to juggle multiple accounts and deadlines. You’ll need to keep on top of renewal dates, tender deadlines, pipeline updates and client commitments
- Demonstrable experience using MEDDIC/MEDDPICC frameworks
Nice to have:
- An interest in, or existing knowledge of, public affairs, policy, and regulatory developments
- A degree in political science or a related field
