AGL ELECTRICIAN (AERONAUTICAL GROUND LIGHTING)

The role
We are now seeking a qualified AGL Electrician to assist with delivery of our contract at RAF Marham, for our FDIS Contract. Previous experience working in MOD/Defence sites is useful but not essential. You will be covering small works, maintenance, installation of AGL systems.
Your principle roles will be;
- To develop a comprehensive understanding of the airport Airfield ground lighting system (AGL), functions and assets through a process of continuous development, assessment, training, and development.
- To undertake all reactive maintenance duties responding to system and equipment failures in a timely manner to sustain the Airports services.
- To undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) according to the routine maintenance plan. Providing feedback on equipment condition, updating, and completing records and making recommendations for improvements and / or cost savings.
- To plan and complete inspections, maintenance and fault-finding activities on the Airfield Ground Lighting and associated systems, and other airfield installations as required to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Co-coordinating, supervision and escorting of Contractors and Service Engineers as required in accordance with relevant Military H&S policy.
- To review, inspect and check work carried out by subcontractors, report any compliance /quality issues and oversee remedial works.
- Contribute to creating & reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Ensure that engineering spares are ordered and spares are available to maintain equipment reliability and reduce down time following failures.
- Maintain and keep detailed records of maintenance problems and activities.
- Following detailed and thorough investigation advise the Site Supervisor of any maintenance problems which might affect the
running of the Airfield and ensuring the Engineering Team is fully briefed at all times regarding day-to-day issues and problems.
- Provide guidance and support for projects as required.
- Manage own compliance of Health & Safety within the workplace and wider site environment.
- Provide updates and reports on any equipment or system failures.
You will need:
- 18th Edition essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
- Test and inspection not necessary but preferred
- Aeronautical Ground Lighting Technician
- Experience in maintenance of airfield lighting systems and working on a live airfield.
- IPAF
- Driving licence
- Good basic understanding of site based H&S.
