Dodd Engineering Limited provides bespoke material handling and machinery production systems to key blue chip clients in the automotive, modular housing and general industry sectors and we now wish to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with Solidworks experience to support our existing design team. As a key member of our design team, you will have the opportunity to lead design project delivery as part of the turnkey bespoke material handling system solutions.
The Package:
- 40–45 K salary (depending on experience), pension and annual bonus
- 25 days annual holidays, plus statutory holidays
- Hours of work: Mon – Thurs 8am – 4:30pm & Fri 8am – 3:30pm
The Mechanical Design Engineer Role:
We are looking for a high calibre self–starter, design engineer, capable of delivering mechanical design packages: 3D models and fabrication drawings using Solidworks; and capable of generating other technical documents. As part of the Design team develop design concepts, controls, procedures, modelling and production of manufacturing drawings. (NO HYBRID WORKING FOR THIS ROLE)
Mechanical Design Engineer Skills/Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Demonstrate more than 5 years bespoke, machine design experience
- Good knowledge in mechanical engineering principles
- Must have Solidworks experience in an engineering role
- Experience with FEA and hand calculations
- Detailed knowledge of drawing principles and standards
- Has knowledge in fabrication
- Good written and communication skills
- Can meet deadlines and work in a fast–paced environment
Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design and development of new and existing products
- Understanding and interpreting customer requirements
- Ensure designs conform to industry, customer and company standards
- Carry out regular design reviews with the team and/or customer
- Output accurate models, drawings, BoMs and other technical documents
