What you'll do
Docusign is looking for a highly motivated Lead Atlassian Engineer (Tech Lead) to own the strategy, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-wide Atlassian solutions (Jira, Confluence, and related integrations) across Docusign. This role will lead the design, governance, and optimization of Atlassian platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with business objectives. You will act as technical owner, guiding a team of engineers and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to drive platform excellence and adoption. You will lead the integration and enablement of Atlassian Intelligence (AI) features across tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Rovo, and work to identify agentic use cases that boost automation, streamline knowledge access, and enhance decision-making. You’ll explore and implement agent-based workflows that autonomously support users, reduce manual toil, and optimize collaboration across the business. As a key member of the Cloud Applications team, you will own service strategy and delivery for Atlassian platforms while also advancing the enterprise adoption of AI-powered features and capabilities within our SaaS landscape. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Manager, Cloud Apps.
Responsibility
- Lead the technical strategy, architecture, and design of Docusign’s Atlassian ecosystem, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance for 5,000+ global users.
- Serve as the primary technical escalation point while mentoring and guiding Atlassian engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving.
- Establish and enforce governance standards, security controls, access management, and platform best practices across the Atlassian environment.
- Architect and implement advanced solutions using Atlassian REST APIs, ScriptRunner, and modern programming languages to automate workflows and integrate with the broader SaaS ecosystem.
- Design and oversee scalable workflows, screen configurations, and permission models aligned with evolving business processes.
- Develop advanced reporting frameworks, dashboards, and planning views (e.g., eazyBI, Advanced Roadmaps) to deliver actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.
- Act as the primary liaison with Atlassian and third-party vendors for complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and roadmap alignment.
- Partner cross-functionally to support infrastructure maintenance, system migrations, and platform enhancements.
- Drive adoption and enablement of AI capabilities within the Atlassian platform, including awareness, onboarding, and support initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams to triage issues, resolve technical challenges, and contribute to documentation and RCA efforts.
- Champion automation and continuous improvement to streamline operations and enhance efficiency across the platform.
Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation).
What you bring
Basic
- 12+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field), or 8+ years with a Master’s degree.
- Experience administering and configuring the Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence) at an advanced (admin/super-user) level.
- Experience designing and building custom Jira queries, reports, dashboards, and data visualizations based on business requirements.
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as eazyBI or similar platforms.
- Experience with programming/scripting languages and technologies (e.g., Python, Java, SQL, HTML, Linux).
- Experience implementing and supporting key Atlassian plugins, including Advanced Roadmaps (Jira Portfolio) and Adaptavist ScriptRunner or equivalent tools.
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum) and modern engineering practices including CI/CD pipelines.
Preferred
- Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) credentials or equivalent certifications.
- Experience supporting and enabling AI-powered capabilities within Jira and Confluence, including intelligent agents and predictive insights.
- Strong interest in agentic frameworks and familiarity with autonomous or semi-autonomous AI use cases.
- Experience driving change management and user enablement initiatives for new tools, features, and platform enhancements.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across the organization.
- Exposure to Atlassian migration, consolidation, or transformation initiatives.
- Solid understanding of change management methodologies to support organizational adoption and transformation.
- Strong decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities in complex environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to educate, mentor, and share knowledge across all levels of the organization.
