Role Overview: We are seeking a friendly and organized Medical Receptionist to join our growing healthcare team at The Quay Family Healthcare. In this role, you will work at the front desk of our medical clinic and assist our patients and other visitors. Your primary job duties will include:

  • Greeting and checking in patients
  • Answering questions
  • Collecting patient co-pays
  • Processing paperwork
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Keeping our records and work areas clean and organized
  • Ensuring our office provides a welcoming environment for our patients

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open and close clinic as per set procedure
  • Greet patients and other callers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Make appointments for patients
  • Ensure medical records are managed confidentially and efficiently
  • Accurately process patient payments via cash, Eftpos, and direct bill transaction
  • Invoice Medicare, Private Health Funds, TAC, Workcover
  • Knowledge of the MBS schedule and correct billing procedures
  • Deal with referring doctors, hospital staff, pharmacists etc courteously and helpfully
  • Attend to patient enquiries
  • Check and handle internal emails
  • Fill in the roster when staff is away, on holidays and sick leave
  • Maintain the reception waiting area and consulting rooms tidy including the clean up of spills if necessary
  • Ensure the accurate storage and retrieval of patient and practice records with appropriate scanning, faxing and filing of all documents
  • At all times maintain confidentiality of patient personal and financial information
  • Complete recalls
  • Support the day to day operations of the medical centre
  • Exceptional customer service and teamwork skills

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team
  • Experience with Medical software (BEST PRACTICE/MEDICAL DIRECTOR)
  • Demonstrated strong organisational and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment, including multitasking
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality patient service
  • At least 1 year experience as a Medical Receptionist in a medical practice is required

In addition, the candidate must also provide the following:

  • Current Police Check
  • Current Working with Children clearance
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate
  • Immunisation Record
  • Driving Licence/ Photo ID
