Overview As a GP in a prison setting, you’ll play a vital role in improving health outcomes for individuals who may have complex health and social care needs. Your work will help reduce health inequalities and ensure continuity of care in a challenging but rewarding environment. Main duties of the job Provide full GP services including consultations, clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals. Manage chronic diseases, acute presentations, and mental health conditions. Contribute to the management of substance misuse and support detox pathways. Work collaboratively with nursing staff, mental health professionals, pharmacists, and external healthcare providers. Participate in clinical audits, risk assessments, and safeguarding processes. Maintain comprehensive clinical records using the prison electronic health record system. Take part in clinical governance activities and support continuous quality improvement.
