Overview

Thanks for stopping by! We\’re Doctor Care Anywhere: a leading digital platform, with a clear vision to be the primary care provider of choice for digital healthcare — and that all starts with our brilliant team. We are the UK\’s largest private provider of telehealth services, working with insurers, healthcare providers and corporate customers to provide healthcare services to more than 2 million patients every year.

From doctors and designers to software developers and marketers — we’re proud of our people, who love working together to enhance patient experiences for the better. It’s why every year, we help over 2 million people speak to a GP or ACP by video or phone, anywhere in the world. Our story started back in 2013, and as we continue to grow, we’re looking for the very best talent to help us achieve our ambitious goals.

Your new role: We’re looking for a design unicorn — someone who blends craft with strategy, behavioural insight with business impact, and can reimagine how people experience digital healthcare. You will report to the Chief Product & Digital Officer, shaping the product and its end-to-end experiences.

This is a leadership-focused design role: not just executing tickets, but reframing mental models, shifting behaviours, and delivering measurable impact for the business through human-centred and behavioural design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end UX design across products and new propositions, from framing the problem to delivering validated solutions.
  • Own design projects — scoping, planning, and managing design timelines to keep discovery and delivery on track.
  • Facilitate discovery through workshops, journey mapping, prototyping, and testing to generate evidence-based insights.
  • Design screen flows, prototypes, and interactions, collaborating with engineers to bring designs to life.
  • Set and communicate the experience vision, define UX outcomes, and align squads with the vision.
  • Champion behavioural design principles — designing with mental models and human behaviour at the core.
  • Mentor and inspire a junior designer, raising the craft bar and fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, clinicians, and stakeholders to create cohesive, human-centred experiences.

About you

  • You are a strategic yet hands-on designer, comfortable setting experience vision and refining interaction details.
  • You lead design propositions, owning the process from discovery through delivery.
  • You can plan and manage design timelines and structure discovery without dampening creativity.
  • You are fluent in behavioural design, mental models, and service thinking within healthcare contexts.
  • You are inquisitive and independent — proactively reframing problems and spotting opportunities.
  • You influence stakeholders with clarity and evidence to support design decisions.
  • You are motivated by impact: improving patient experiences and shaping the future of digital healthcare.

Must have

  • Proven experience leading end-to-end UX design across complex products or services, from discovery through delivery.
  • Hands-on craft skills — design screen flows, prototypes, and interaction details in Figma; collaborate with engineers to realize designs.
  • Ability to own and drive design propositions, working independently while collaborating across product, engineering, clinical, and marketing teams.
  • Experience leading design discovery phases, including workshops, journey mapping, prototyping, and user testing, with structured timelines.
  • Strategic design leadership — setting experience vision, defining UX outcomes, and aligning squads on shared goals.
  • Fluency in behavioural design and mental models, applying human-centred design to healthcare challenges.
  • Stakeholder influence and communication skills — able to challenge assumptions and secure senior-level buy-in.
  • Mentorship and leadership capability, with experience coaching junior designers.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing for healthcare, regulated, or high-stakes environments.
  • Strong grounding in qualitative and quantitative research methods; able to run tests and apply insights.
  • Comfort with data-informed design, working with analytics and behavioural metrics to iterate.
  • Ability to evangelise design across a business through talks, workshops, or frameworks to raise design maturity.
  • Prior experience in fast-paced scale-ups or start-ups where ambiguity and autonomy are the norm.

Benefits

  • Doctor Care Anywhere subscription for you and up to 5 family and friends.
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays (FTE).
  • Birthday Day Off.
  • Option to buy up to 5 additional days of annual leave (FTE).
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Charity days to give back to the community.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
  • Bike2Work scheme.
  • Hybrid working environment.
  • Development opportunities to grow in your career.
  • Note: Doctor Care Anywhere is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its patients and expects all colleagues to share this commitment. This post is subject to satisfactory DBS and reference checks, and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
