Your new role

The postholder will work as part of the safeguarding team to ensure Doctor Care Anywhere provides safe, high‑quality safeguarding care. The postholder will support the delivery and management of organisation-wide safeguarding responsibilities and the development and implementation of the safeguarding plan for Doctor Care Anywhere. They will contribute to robust systems and processes for the protection of vulnerable adults and children.

Responsibilities

  • Working pattern: 2 day part-time, Monday & Wednesday (15 hours in total)
  • Salary: £35,000 FTE (Pro rata: £14,000)
  • Support the Safeguarding Lead with meeting CQC safeguarding standards as outlined in RCN intercollegiate documents and CQC regulations
  • Develop and deliver the organisation’s safeguarding agenda ensuring quality is embedded across safeguarding activity
  • Support service delivery related to safeguarding services, including raising safeguarding concerns and referrals as appropriate
  • Review information from clinical and non-clinical staff, complete referrals to external agencies as needed, and ensure timely referrals following policies and protocols
  • Assist in processing and follow-up of safeguarding referrals as needed
  • Provide live, responsive safeguarding advice to clinical and non-clinical staff and support timely escalation and referrals in line with statutory requirements and best practice
  • Maintain professional judgment and communicate effectively to support safe decisions regarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults
  • liaise with external organisations and agencies on safeguarding matters; promote good practice and address confidentiality issues
  • Contribute to safeguarding priorities, quality assurance, audits, evaluation, and investigations as delegated
  • Maintain continuing professional development and knowledge of relevant clinical guidelines and standards

Key attributes / Person spec

Training

  • NMC or HCPC Registered Healthcare Professional
  • At least degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Safeguarding Adults and Children, and Mental Capacity Act training to at least level 3

Experience

  • 3 years post qualifying work experience within safeguarding
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency setting
  • Clinical safeguarding experience and ability to deal with highly complex, sensitive situations

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Safeguarding Children
  • Understanding of Mental Capacity Act, national policy/research and legislation related to safeguarding
  • Awareness of cultural differences and their relation to practice
  • Understanding of social care organisations and their functions
  • Commitment to patient and staff confidentiality

Skills

  • Ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences
  • Strong advocacy for the welfare and rights of adults at risk
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and autonomously when needed
  • High level of autonomous decision-making and ongoing clinical expertise
  • Calm under pressure and computer literate (Microsoft Office, with ability to learn new systems such as Jira, Slack)

Desirable

  • Ability to deliver training to large groups and communicate knowledge effectively
