A Bit About Us
We’re Doccla, and we’re redefining where and how healthcare is delivered. Our Virtual Ward and Remote Monitoring Solutions enable hospitals and health systems to care for patients at home. We support patients across the full care journey from early discharge and acute recovery to long-term condition management and proactive care. We provide everything clinicians need to deliver safe, effective Virtual Care: medical-grade devices, logistics, patient onboarding, EHR integration, and an end-to-end clinical platform built around real-world workflows. We currently work with over 60% of NHS ICBs and support health systems across the UK, Ireland, France, and the DACH region to reduce hospital pressure, improve outcomes, and create a more resilient model of care. We’re backed by top European investors, having secured £35m in Series B funding led by Lakestar, with participation from Elaia, General Catalyst, Speedinvest, and Bertelsmann.
Why Join Us?
This is your chance to join Doccla at a key stage in our growth. We’re building the category leader in Virtual Care and Remote Patient Monitoring. You’ll be part of a highly entrepreneurial, mission-driven team that combines expertise across clinical, technical, commercial, and operational domains. We’re solving real problems for patients and health systems and growing fast.
What You’ll Do as a Senior Fullstack (Elixir) Engineer
- You will be a technical leader within one of our cross-functional product teams, delivering compliant, production-grade software in a regulated healthcare environment.
- You will work across the full stack with a focus on Elixir on the backend but be able to pick up frontend as required (React), championing simple, pragmatic engineering that keeps patients safe and helps customers succeed.
The Bulk Of Your Time Will Be Spent
- Delivering high-quality, compliant software writing well-tested, maintainable code across the full stack that meets regulatory requirements and protects patient safety.
- Leading technical delivery driving complex projects through simple, pragmatic solutions while staying close to the detail and getting hands dirty with whatever needs doing.
- Improving our systems leaving things healthier than you found them by advocating for technical work that reduces debt, strengthens reliability, and drives platform maturity.
- Collaborating across teams working closely with Product, design, and fellow engineers to ensure we’re solving the right problems and shipping with confidence.
- Raising the bar reviewing PRs with empathy and clarity, mentoring teammates, and helping build a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Contributing to engineering-wide initiatives engaging in tech co-operatives, sharing knowledge, and helping elevate standards across the organisation.
What Experience You’ll Bring To The Team
- Strong production experience as a fullstack engineer with Elixir on the backend; you know OTP and the ecosystem well enough to build and maintain production systems confidently.
- Confident enough to pick up frontend React, able to contribute to responsive, accessible interfaces.
- Experience working in a startup or scaleup environment comfortable with ambiguity, resilient through change, and able to adapt quickly as priorities shift.
- Hands-on experience with databases and GraphQL in production environments.
- A track record of leading technical delivery on complex projects breaking down problems, making pragmatic tradeoffs, and shipping reliably.
- Experience working in a regulated or compliance-heavy environment (healthcare or medical device experience is a strong plus).
- Experience producing clear technical documentation that supports compliant delivery, informed decision-making, and safe long-term maintenance.
- A history of improving the systems and codebases you work in not just shipping features, but actively strengthening quality, test coverage, and operational health.
What We’re Looking For
- A pragmatic engineer who champions simplicity; you resist over-engineering and help your team make grounded tradeoffs that serve the business today while keeping us nimble for the future.
- Someone who takes patient safety seriously; you ensure traceability, risk-aware development, and structured change control are part of how you work, not an afterthought.
- Happy to get stuck into anything the team needs, whether it’s deep in your comfort zone or completely outside it, big or small, glamorous or not.
- A clear, proactive communicator who keeps stakeholders informed, flags risks early, and translates technical complexity for non-technical audiences.
- The drive to adopt AI tooling such as Claude and Copilot to enhance productivity, and share those learnings with the wider engineering org.
- A collaborative mindset; you build strong relationships, review code with care, and actively help the people around you grow.
- Someone who takes ownership of problems end-to-end, doesn’t stay stuck, and knows when to escalate.
Skills & Attributes
- Curious and kind, always thinking the best of others and helping rather than complaining.
- Naturally In It Together; you nurture psychological safety, default to openness, and support colleagues from all backgrounds.
- Never afraid to Own It; you proactively identify issues, drive them to resolution, and continuously improve how we build.
- Patient First in everything; quality, compliance, and safety are your default, not a box to tick.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to code quality, testing, and operational excellence.
- High integrity, professionalism, and a calm, respectful presence especially when things get difficult.
