This is a full-time Senior Process Engineer role based in Cheshire. The Senior Process Engineer will lead and execute process engineering activities across the project lifecycle, including feasibility, concept design, FEED, detailed design, and support to commissioning, operations, and decommissioning. Responsibilities include developing process design deliverables (such as process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and mass/energy balances), performing calculations, and ensuring compliance with relevant design codes and industry standards. The role involves working closely with multi-discipline teams (mechanical, piping, structural, control and instrumentation, process safety) to provide integrated solutions for clients in regulated sectors. The Senior Process Engineer will also mentor less experienced engineers, contribute to proposals and technical reports, interface with clients to define requirements, and support continuous improvement of DOCAN’s tools, methods, and quality processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering, with the ability to apply core principles to complex, multi-discipline projects.
  • Proficiency in Process Design, including development of process deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, mass and energy balances) and familiarity with relevant design codes and standards.
  • Experience in Process Control, including understanding of control philosophies, control schemes, and collaboration with control and instrumentation specialists.
  • Well-developed Analytical Skills, including problem-solving, data interpretation, and use of engineering software or tools to validate designs and support decision-making.
  • Relevant engineering degree (e.g., Chemical, Process, or Mechanical with strong process focus); Chartered or Professional Engineer status, or working toward it, is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: FEED, detailed design, process safety, process systems modelling, or advanced CAE tools.
  • Ideally experienced in steady, unsteady, 1D and 3D modelling in Process and Chemical engineering.
  • Proven ability to work effectively.
