Doc Plus is a growing private GP clinic based in Newton Mearns, Glasgow. We provide accessible, patient-centred private healthcare with longer appointments, clear pricing and a broad range of GP, diagnostic, screening, vaccination, ear care, minor procedure and wellness services.

We are now looking for a motivated Practice Nurse / Procedure Nurse to help us build a modern nurse-led service supported by GP oversight. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys practical clinical work, patient contact, procedures, organisation and helping shape a growing private healthcare model.

This role would suit an experienced practice nurse, community nurse, treatment-room nurse, urgent-care nurse, occupational-health nurse or private-clinic nurse who wants more autonomy, variety and progression.

The role

  • You will support and deliver nurse-led clinics including:
    • Phlebotomy, observations, urine testing, swabs and sample preparation
    • ECGs, health-check preparation and lifestyle measurements
    • Blood-test appointments and doctor-reviewed health-screen pathways
    • Vaccination clinic support, including family and travel vaccination work
    • Weight-loss monitoring, injection teaching, side-effect checks and follow-up
    • Ear assessment and ear wax removal after training and competency sign-off
    • Wart, verruca and selected skin-tag treatment after training and competency sign-off
    • Preparation, chaperoning and assistance for minor surgery and procedure clinics
    • Patient recalls, results follow-up, documentation and safety-netting
    • Stock control, infection prevention, procedure-room preparation and clinical audit

You will work to agree on Doc Plus protocols, with clear escalation routes. Prescribing and complex medical decision-making will remain GP-led. You do not need to be a nurse prescriber.

Training and development

We are happy to train the right person. Funded training and supervised competency sign-off may include:

  • Ear wax removal / microsuction
  • Wart and verruca treatment
  • Skin-tag procedure support
  • Travel and family vaccination clinic workflow
  • Health-screening pathways
  • Weight-loss monitoring and injection education
  • Minor procedure support

As the service expands, there will be scope to progress into a Lead Nurse / Clinic Lead role and help train future nurses across Doc Plus sites.

  • Current NMC registration
  • Confident phlebotomy and injection skills
  • Excellent documentation and IT skills
  • Calm, safe and organised clinical manner
  • Good communication and patient-care skills

  • Willingness to learn new procedure-based skills
  • Clear understanding of when to escalate to a GP

Desirable:

  • General practice or private clinic experience
  • Travel vaccination experience
  • Ear wax removal experience
  • ECG or health-screening experience
  • Sexual health testing experience
  • Weight-management clinic experience
  • Minor surgery, dermatology, wart/verruca or skin-tag experience

What we offer

  • £30–£36 per hour, depending on experience
  • Funded training and competency sign-off
  • GP support and clear clinical protocols
  • Private-clinic environment with longer appointments
  • Varied clinical work, including diagnostics, procedures and prevention
  • Opportunity to help build a growing healthcare brand
