Salary: Starting salary - £13 per hour, increasing to £16 per hour as you learn with a shift premium of £83 per week.
Hours: 39 hours per week, the role is shift based, although training will be given on days. While training: 7.45am - 4.45pm Monday to Thursday, 7.45am - 12.45pm Friday.
Shift Hours:
- Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 6am to 2.30pm, Friday 6am to 1.30pm
- Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 2pm to 10.30pm, Friday 11.30am to 7pm
The Role: We are looking for a Saw Operator to join our team to assist with the manufacture of precision engineered parts. We don't necessarily need somebody with previous saw operator experience; we are looking for somebody who has the drive, commitment and the ability to work within a small team environment whilst delivering work that shows attention to detail, accuracy and has pride in getting the job done right, first time. The role is varied, supporting a number of areas of the business with the focus on the saw.
Responsibilities include:
- Loading our Kasto semi-automatic saw with metal bars (up to 6 M in length) for cutting into shorter billets.
- Using a 3 T overhead crane (training will be given) to load the material.
- Calculating lengths of cut and quantities to ensure minimal waste.
- Ensuring the correct material is used, tracing the material batch through the process and completing the paperwork accurately.
- Setting and operating the saw.
The Person: Will have the following attributes:
- A good basic maths knowledge to calculate weights/lengths and quantities.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- A desire to improve the task if possible, without sacrificing quality.
- Pride in quality of work, rather than volume of work.
- Confident personality to highlight any errors, talk to suppliers, work colleagues.
- Willingness to be flexible and assist wherever needed.
Training: Training would be through existing operators. Career progression into other roles may be possible over time, and the business has a philosophy of developing its employees as much as possible.
