We are seeking a Principal Systems Implementation Engineer who will contribute to the specification, design, implementation, support and training of condition monitoring systems for deployment to users in the power industry, globally. The Principal Systems Implementation Engineer will support the Director with preparation of solutions starting with customer requirements and see projects through to completion. This role will be based at our Bere Regis UK office reporting to the Director of the Innovation Centre for Online Systems (ICOS).
Essential Job Functions
- Creation of condition monitoring system proposals for power industry clients.
- Understanding the installed environment of condition monitoring systems for the power industry.
- Awareness and adherence to safety regulations at the customer location.
- Authoring of technical proposals.
- Working with customers to determine requirements.
- Distributed condition monitoring system design.
- Working with the team on design architecture to ensure the system design is fit for purpose.
- Working with customers to ensure safety compliance.
- Customer documentation.
- Contribution to O&M documents for project completion.
- Taking ownership of complete document packages.
- Technical support for installation and commissioning teams.
- Take the lead on support activities for projects.
- Understanding of deployed equipment and ability to configure and troubleshoot.
- Interpretation of system data.
- Competitor analysis.
- Keeping up to date with competitive solutions.
- Perform gap analysis to determine system improvement requirements.
- Training activities.
- Ensure appropriate training is given to colleagues, field staff and others across Doble and customers, ensuring a high standard of content, delivery and educational value.
- Work with colleagues to ensure consistency of training material.
Qualifications
- Degree in an engineering discipline, ideally electrical engineering, or similar. Demonstrable experience in appropriate areas will add weight to qualifications.
- 15 years of experience in electrical utility engineering or operations, including experience with substation equipment or systems will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of power industry experience.
- Demonstrable site safety experience.
- Data interpretation skills to support condition monitoring decisions.
- Proficient use of document authoring tools: Microsoft Office and associated applications.
- Demonstration of strong system integration skills.
- Practical experience in troubleshooting monitoring and diagnostic equipment in the field.
- Site safety certification history.
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
- Experience in high voltage monitoring system design, application and implementation.
- Experience in interacting with field staff, management and executives.
- Site safety training.
- Factory acceptance testing.
- Condition monitoring system commissioning.
- Working in teams distributed across locations and time zones.
