We are now looking for a Technical Artist with Unreal Engine expertise to help bring our environments and ideas to life. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team where your input has a real impact.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy interactive real-time experiences using Unreal Engine.
- Develop and implement gameplay logic, user interaction systems, and environmental simulations using Blueprints and C++.
- Collaborate across disciplines — working with 3D artists, designers, and technical directors to integrate environments, lighting, VFX, and UI/UX for polished, high-impact visuals.
- Optimise assets, lighting, and performance for PC, VR, and mobile platforms using Unreal's profiling and debugging tools.
- Create and refine UI/UX interfaces, ensuring intuitive navigation and user engagement.
- Contribute to gamification design, including reward systems, progress tracking, and interactive storytelling.
- Lead beta testing and QA cycles, managing feedback loops to refine usability and visual fidelity.
- Maintain stable production pipelines — managing version control, testing, and deployment processes.
- Develop and support internal tools to streamline workflows, enable faster iteration, and enhance content generation.
What We Are Looking For
- Expertise in Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprints, Materials, Nanite, Lumen, and in-editor modelling tools.
- Strong C++ programming skills (C++17 or newer) with scripting experience in Python.
- Proven experience developing and deploying interactive real-time applications or games across architecture, simulation, or entertainment domains.
- Solid understanding of optimisation, asset streaming, and performance profiling for real-time rendering.
- Proficient in 3D asset workflows, including experience with 3ds Max, Datasmith, and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects).
- Familiarity with UI frameworks, interaction systems, and state management for immersive experiences.
- Strong grasp of game design principles and user experience flow.
- Experience managing beta builds, gathering feedback, and tracking performance metrics to refine product quality.
- Creative eye and technical mindset, with the ability to balance performance and visual fidelity.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work both independently and within a small, multidisciplinary team.
- Experience developing gamified training or learning simulations.
- Background in architecture visualisation or digital twin environments.
- Experience with Docker, cloud deployment, and large-scale system integration.
- Familiarity with VR and AR development pipelines.
- Knowledge of robotics simulation, physics modelling, or sensor data visualisation.
- Experience with 3D software: 3DS Max, Blender, Maya, or Substance Painter.
- Experience creating internal Unreal Editor tools or plugins.
- Understanding of CI/CD workflows and automated build systems.
Personal Attributes
- Creative, self-driven, and passionate about interactive design and storytelling.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in a team setting.
- Highly organised and capable of managing multiple builds or iterations.
- Eager to experiment, prototype, and push the boundaries of real-time interaction.
Why Join Do Digital?
- Work from Cardiff HQ or remotely anywhere in the UK.
- Join a tight-knit team with room to shape direction and creative approach.
- Be part of innovative, varied projects that blend visual storytelling with real-time tech.
What We Offer
- 20 days annual leave + bank holidays.
- Flexible, hybrid working model.
- Funded training and career development opportunities.
- Annual pay reviews and performance-based bonuses.
- Support for VR/AR hardware access and testing environments.
