The Inventory Manager is responsible for the end-to-end control, accuracy, and availability of all airline-owned stock held within Airline Stores and operational areas. This role ensures inventory is correctly recorded, issued and replenished in line with airline requirements, operational demand, and contractual obligations. Working closely with multiple departments and airline representatives, the Inventory Manager will maintain strong controls over high-volume, reusable, and time-critical items in a fast-paced 24/7 catering environment. The role requires a hands-on approach, strong attention to detail, and the confidence to challenge processes and behaviours that risk stock integrity.
The Inventory Manager will also be responsible for analysing stock data, investigating variances, improving inventory processes, and supporting business continuity during schedule changes, disruptions, and airline growth.
- End-to-end management of airline inventory.
- Liaise directly with airline customers on all inventory-related matters, ensuring transparency, compliance with airline requirements, and timely resolution of issues.
- Maintain accurate stock records across multiple sites.
- Set and manage par levels, safety stock, and replenishment cycles.
- Control issuing, returns, and inter-site movements.
- Lead cycle counts, audits, and full stocktakes; investigate variances.
- Manage airline-specific requirements and SLAs.
- Identify loss, damage, and misuse; implement corrective actions.
- Produce regular reports on stock levels, variances, ageing, and trends.
- Support new airline launches, schedule changes, and volume fluctuations.
- Drive continuous improvement in inventory processes and controls.
- Manage third-party suppliers, overseeing stock issuance and product receipt, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, security, and aviation standards.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including the confidence to challenge when necessary.
- Proven inventory or stores management experience, preferably within aviation or logistics.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Ability to analyse data effectively and accurately.
- High attention to detail with a control mindset.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Comfortable in fast-paced, changeable environments.
- Ability to manage multiple customers with different rules and volumes.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Accountable and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexible availability in a 24/7 operational environment.
